Loan Origination Truncates Certified and Borrower Requested Amounts When Item Type is Awarded Over $99,999 (>=$100,000) (Doc ID 2414570.1)

Last updated on JUNE 28, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Financial Aid - Version 9 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When attempting to run loan origination to process any loan item type awarded over $99,999, the loan certified and borrower requested amounts are assigned with the first and sometimes more digits are truncated, resulting in those amounts not matching the actual award amount.

Subsequently, in the case of Direct Loans, the loan will fail validation and will be unable to be transmitted to COD. In the case of alternative loans processed via Commonline, see <Note 2608576.1> for more information.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Financial Aid > Awards > Award Processing > Assign Awards to a Student > Student Aid Package, and award a student a PLUS or Grad PLUS item type for an amount >=100,000.
  2. Navigate to Financial Aid > Loans > Process Loans > Loan Origination and run the process for the emplid awarded in the previous step.
  3. Navigate to Financial Aid > Loans > Direct Lending Management > Manage Direct Loan Application > Application Financial for the originated loan, and note the 'Loan Certified Amount' and 'Request Amount' fields have had one or more digits truncated.
