Symptoms

When building FA Term, records are identified where the total units taken and/or passed are lower than they should be, and in some cases even negative. This in turn seems to be because the term calculated the 'Total TC Adjust' field  but no other transfer units.

The issue only occurs in the situation where the cumulative statistics have been reset on the Records side, prior to the problem term being built. An example would be a student returning for a second bachelor's degree.

The downstream processing impact is that a Population Update for Financial Aid term will fail if the populated total units are negative.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

  1. Identify a student who has had cumulative statistics reset on the Records side, prior to the term(s) needing to be built for the aid year. The 'Reset Cum Stats at Term Start' box is located on Records and Enrollment > Student Term Information > Term History > Cumulative Statistics, and the underlying field is STDNT_CAR_TERM.RESET_CUM_STATS.
  2. Navigate to Financial Aid > Financial Aid Term > Maintain Student FA Term > FA Term, for the identified student and aid year being processed.
  3. Click 'Build' button on first row that comes up.
  4. Run the following query:
