E-QR/NV: Query To Excel Shows No Data OR Excel Cannot Open the File Because the File Format or File Extension is not Valid (Doc ID 2522750.1)

Symptoms

Query to Excel shows no Data.

 

When trying to run a query using Query Manager or Query Viewer and select "Run to Excel' the results are blank.

In order to run query to Excel, follow the below steps:

  1. Log into PIA.
  2. Navigate to Reporting Tools > Query > Query Manager or Query Viewer.
  3. Search for a query.
  4. Run it to Excel.

 

Same issue happens when running the query from Query Manager > Edit > Run > Download to Excel.

In order to run a query to Excel from Edit mode, follow the below steps:

  1. Log into PIA.
  2. Navigate to Reporting Tools > Query > Query Manager.
  3. Search for a query.
  4. Click on "Edit" link to enter in Edit mode.
  5. Click on Results tab.
  6. Click on "Download to Excel" link.

 

If selecting "Run to HTML" or "Run to XML" the process works and the results are returned. Same query is blank for Excel.

 

The user may experience the following error as well:

Excel cannot open the file because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.
