Goal
Does Oracle plan on releasing a patch to accommodate the IRS's mandate that the SSN number must now be masked on the W-2 forms?
Sec. 409(a)DivQ, of P.L. 114-113, enacted on 18 December 2015 authorizes the Internal Revenue Service to promulgate a regulation to permit employee Social Security Numbers to be truncated on Forms W-2 (e.g., XXX-XX-9999).
The provision is effective immediately; however, the IRS must first issue regulations, meaning the earliest that the provision could be effective would be for Forms W-2 for tax year 2016 filed in 2017.
