E-PRCS: Message "Selected Column Size Exceeds 255 Characters" Appears In Processes Message Log After PeopleTools Upgrade (Doc ID 2785249.1)

Symptoms

Error message is logged in Message Log of processes.

In order to replicate the issue, follow the below steps:

1. Log into PIA.
2. Navigate to the application page.
3. Run a process.
4. Navigate to People Tools > Process Scheduler > Process Monitor.
5. Check details for that process instance that was run.

Issue is specific for environments having database on Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and the OS of process scheduler on Microsoft Windows Server.

Issue occurs for all processes which have Notification Configuration for Email set at Process Definition level.

To check if a process has Notification Configuration for Email set at Process Definition level, follow the below steps:

1. Log into PIA.
2. Navigate to PeopleTools > Process Scheduler > Processes.
3. Search for the process definition in question.
4. Open the process definition.
5. Go to the Notification tab.
6. Verify under Notifications section if any EMAIL notification is enabled.

Changes

 A PeopleTools upgrade was performed to either PeopleTools 8.57 or 8.58.
