E-NV: Excel Exception Error While Running NVision Report Book [E:\PT858P05C_2006261426-retail\peopletools\src\psnxl\gridapp.cpp:2548] 'Th' Error for Microsoft Excel' (Doc ID 2794186.1)

Symptoms

When running a report from Report Book, the following Excel exception errors display in Message Log:


1. Excel interface exception [E:\PT858P05C_2006261426-retail\peopletools\src\psnxl\gridapp.cpp:2548] 'Th' Error for Microsoft Excel'.
2. Variable <variable name> is invalid for document templates


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Login to PIA
2. Navigate to Reporting Tools > PS/nVision > Define Report Book
3. From the Define Report Book page, search for an existing report book or create a new one.
4. Click the Run Report button
5. Click Process Monitor link
6. Review Message Log
