Population Selection/Population Update File Parser Adapter Does not Always Correctly Process External Files (Doc ID 2795492.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Campus Community - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In certain cases, external files are not processed correctly when External File is selected as the method by Pop Select/ Pop Update. For example, if the file has three numeric fields at the end of the file line, the file is neither previewed nor processed correctly.

The issue does not occur in other cases - for example, if numeric and character fields are intermixed, then both Preview and processing work as expected.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Create .csv file with the three amount/numeric fields ending each line.
  2. Set up pop select mapping to handle the file: Set Up SACR > System Administration > Utilities > File Parser > Population Selection File Map.
  3. Run the Pop Select or Pop Update process.
  4. Review the results.

For a specific example of the problem observed in the Financial Aid module, see Population Update of Fiscal Item Type Table ITEM_TYPE_FISCL Populates All Amounts With Same Value Even When Different Values are Specified in External File Population Select <Note 2793682.1>.

For a specific example of the problem observed in the Student Financials module, see Batch Refunding Creates Two Separate Refunds for a Student  Note 2770558.1.
