EAM: Retro Bonus Depreciation Calculates Depreciation Incorrectly When Asset Has Retirement and Reinstatement Transactions (Doc ID 2855772.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 14, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN Asset Management - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Depreciation is incorrect after performing retro bonus calculation when asset is retired and reinstated. Looking in the PS_DEPR_RPT table for this asset, it appear that accum_depr_rei should be populated when asset is reinstated, but that is not the case. Asset goes back to regular depreciation instead of bonus depreciation.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Navigate to Asset Management > Asset Transactions > Owned Assets > Express Add and Add a new Asset without selecting any Depreciation Bonus.

2. Main Menu > Asset Management > Depreciation > Processing > Calculate Depreciation

3. Main Menu > Asset Management > Asset Transactions > Asset Disposal. Select Retire/Reinstate Asset  and retire the asset one month later. Run the Calculate depreciation.

4. Main Menu > Asset Management > Asset Transactions > Asset Disposal > Retire/Reinstate Asset > Reinstate the asset. Run the Calculate depreciation again

5. Main Menu > Asset Management > Depreciation > Bonus Retro Calculation > Bonus Extract/Report. Extract asset for bonus.

6. Prepare the asset for depreciation.  Main Menu > Asset Management > Depreciation > Processing > Calculate Depreciation

7. Review Asset Depreciation: Main Menu > Asset Management > Depreciation > Review Depreciation Info > Asset Depreciation
