EPY: CAN - Shift Differential Not Calculating Correctly (Doc ID 2885378.1)

Last updated on APRIL 15, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Payroll for North America - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer is expecting a shift differential to calculate as increasing the rate for both Regular and Overtime rather than paying separately. They believe that the shift differential is paying correctly for USA employees but not correctly for CAN employees.

We are attempting to use a shift differential pay code for our Canadian team partners that would add an additional .60 to their regular pay when they work in a specific time frame. The issue is that when this Shift differential pay code is applied it is not being included in the Regular nor Overtime rates. The .60 should be added to the regular rate increasing both regular and overtime rates. We are not having this issue in the US.

Customer is expecting a shift differential to calculate as increasing the rate for both Regular and Overtime rather than paying separately. They believe that the shift differential is paying correctly for USA employees but not correctly for CAN employees.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

1. Earning code REG & OTP has "Eligible for Shift" - Set Up HCM>Product Related>Payroll for North America>Compensation and Earnings>Earnings Table
2. User is not using the Shift Rate Table for the rates
3. User has Kronos sending over the earnings and the shift earnings separate on paysheet
