Symptoms
After running TAX960IA W2 reporting file, the Iowa official W-2 reporting site could not upload the file.
A pop-up Window appeared where attempting to upload the file with the following errors:
Your file is invalid. Please fix the following errors and reattach the file.
Line 1 contains invalid non- ASCII characters.
Missing Record - Record type RE is required and is missing from the file
Missing Record - Record type RW is required and is missing from the file
Missing Record - Record type RO is required and is missing from the file
Missing Record - Record type RS is required and is missing from the file
Steps to Reproduce
1. Navigate to Payroll for North America > U.S. Annual Processing > W-2 Reporting > Create State W-2 File
2. Run the file for IA
3. Download the file using a third-party FTP (File Transfer Protocol) product
4. Attempt to upload the file to the IA website
5. The file is denied by the state
