ETL92: TRC Validation On Open Punch Is Preventing Punch Correction For A Previous Unrelated Day. (Doc ID 2909523.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 15, 2022

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Time and Labor - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

We are looking for a way to handle the following scenario:
When a user forgets to punch out for the day and then punches in the next day, the supervisor is not able to add the out punch for the previous day because of a validation error on the current day. The out punch can only be added for the previous day once the punch cycle on the current day has been completed. This is not ideal because the work day for the end user may not align with that of the supervisor and the supervisor may not be available to correct the time during the end users non work time. Ideally it would be possible to correct the entry for the previous day without regard to the time on the current day, perhaps using the view by day option on the timesheet.

Steps to Recreate:
1. KUREG TRC is set with minium quantity 0.25 and maxium quantity 24.00.
2. Create rules for Missing IN and Missing OUT punch using delivered rule templates. Then add the new rules in the rule program.
3. Time Reporting Template option for Time is set to Enabled.
4. Employee punches in on Monday but forgets to punch out.
5. Employee comes in Tuesday and punches in.
6. Supervisor arrives on Tuesday and either through the TA exception or the employee themselves is alerted that an out punch needs to be added for Monday.
7. Supervisor cannot add out punch for Monday because of validation on Tuesday time being incomplete.
8. At this point the only time the supervisor can add that out punch for the employee's Monday time is to wait until the employee has punched out on Tuesday or before they punch in on Wednesday.
9. Basically the supervisor can only correct Monday's time if the employee is not in the middle of a punch cycle on any other day that week. Depending on the work hours of both employees this might not always be possible.
