When Mass EFC Calculation is Run as Part of ISIR Load (FAPSAR00), if Multiple ISIR Transactions Loaded for the Same Student, Only the Latest Transaction Shows EFC Calculated on Correct 2023-2024 ISIR records (Doc ID 2925580.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2024

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Financial Aid - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When the Mass EFC Calculation process runs as part of the ISIR load (FAPSAR00 cobol), and the loan instance included processing one or more students with multiple ISIR transactions, only the latest ISIR transaction has the EFC calculated.

The expectation is that all transactions should have the EFC calculated, as that is how it always worked in Aid Years 2023 and earlier when FM INAS was set to calculate EFC's the time of the ISIR load. One example use case presented, for why calculating all transactions might matter, is if the latest ISIR transaction (the only one where the EFC is calculated currently) ends up being deleted.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. On Set Up SACR > Product Related > Financial Aid > File Management > ISIR Data Load Parameters > ISIR Load Options 1 for Aid Year 2024, check the 'Call INAS' box so that the EFC is calculated when the ISIR loads.
  2. Navigate to Financial Aid > File Management > ISIR Import > Process ISIRs > ISIR File Load and run the process.
  3. Identify student with 2 or more transactions processed in the load instance.
  4. Review Financial Aid > Federal Application Data > Correct 2023-2024 ISIR records > EFC\DB Matches\Corr for all transactions loaded, and note that only the current/latest transaction (highest effective date and sequence not in the future) has the EFC calculated.

Note that when evaluating whether the EFC was calculated, ALL of the following should be verified:

  • Prorated EFC > 0 (when primary EFC is > 0)
  • Values are populated in or more of the last 3 calculated fields in the lower right of the EFC information section.
  • Value populated in the federal rule set field within the 'need summary' link.

Changes

The issue is seen after applying the fix for <Bug 34711022> which fixed an issue that previously prevented the running of Mass EFC Calculation with ISIR Load when processing batches with students with more than one transaction.
