E-AS: Application Server Log File APPSRV_MMDD.LOG Is Not Created Even Though the Domain Is Up and Running (Doc ID 2944888.1)

Last updated on APRIL 26, 2023

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.58 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The application server log file APPSRV_MMDD.LOG file, that should be located in the application server log directory (<PS_CFG_HOME>/appserv/<domain>/LOGS), is not being created -daily- as expected.
It was expected that the application server log directory would contain APPSRV_MMDD.LOG files for every day.

The issue was reproducible in the customer site with the following steps:
1. Start the application server domain.
2. Note that only 1 application server log file - APPSRV_MMDD.LOG - was created. For example, after starting the domain on April-13, only APPSRV_0413.LOG was created under <PS_CFG_HOME>/appserv/<domain>/LOGS, for the period between April-13 and April-17.
It was expected that the application server log directory would contain APPSRV_MMDD.LOG files for the other days as well - 14, 15, 16, 17.
