E-AWE: When and How does the Email Address Set in the Personalizations - 'My Preference - Choose Email Address' Page Take Effect for Approval Workflow Email Notifications? (Doc ID 2945222.1)

Goal

Qn1: For Fluid Approvals, some users receive approval workflow email notifications only after setting their email address in the 'My Preferences - Notifications' page, but others receive the same email notifications even if they have not set their email address on the same page. Is it required to choose a contact “Email Address” to receive AWE notification emails?
 
Qn2: As all of our users have a valid work email set in their User Profiles, is it confirmed that on 'Personalizations - Choose Email Address', that entering an email address is not required to receive AWE notification emails?
