E-ES: Elasticsearch Not Usable After Patching - Cannot Search - Cannot Deploy - Cannot UnDeploy (Doc ID 2950743.1)

Last updated on MAY 25, 2023

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.58 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This issue could happen whether you patched the operating system (OS) only on the Elasticsearch box or patched Elasticsearch itself only without patching the OS.
What happened was the following:

After patching, the machine was restarted and customer checked that Elasticsearch had started by checking if there is a pid assigned, as follows:

On a command prompt, run:

ps -ef | grep elas

Once the customer got the pid of Elasticsearch, they allowed normal access to Elasticsearch, i.e. they allowed users to run incremental indexing jobs, searches ...etc

None of that worked at all. Elasticsearch had become unusable.
