Symptoms

In PeopleTools version 8.59.* after a ping test and performing a search , second time when doing the same test and search Elasticsearch server hangs without returning any results.

In "ESCluster" log file located under "<ES_HOME>/logs" folder on the Elasticsearch server the following error messages are returned:

- marking and sending shard failed due to [failed recovery] org.elasticsearch.indices.recovery.RecoveryFailedException: [.tasks][0]: Recovery failed

- marking and sending shard failed due to [failed recovery]

- XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError

It was noticed that after an environment restart and when first scenario is performed, ping test is working fine and search results are being returned.

Changes

In PeopleSoft and Elasticsearch server machines there were no setup changes done.
