Query Output Created Using The Query Data Privacy Framework Always Masks BIRTHDATE When The User Has Permission To See It (Doc ID 2960515.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2024

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When using Data Privacy Framework for Query masking, BIRTHDATE is always masked even if user has security to see it except for a query on the PERSONNEL table. Tables PERS_DATA_SA_VW, PERSNL_FERPA_VW, PERSON, PERSONAL_DATA and PERSONAL_DT_FST mask the birth date when the operator has the role assigned to see the data.

Any operator having the necessary role assigned should see the Birth Date field unmasked on the query output.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Sign in with an oprid assigned a role to view birth dates based on the Data Privacy Framework for Query;
  2. Navigate to Reporting Tools, Query, Query Manager;
  3. Select a query based on one of the tables PERS_DATA_SA_VW, PERSNL_FERPA_VW, PERSON, PERSONAL_DATA and PERSONAL_DT_FST that includes the Birth Date in the output results;
  4. Run the Query;
  5. Note in the output the Birth Date field is masked.
