Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

PUM 45 delivered a new component, Manage Absences tile, which presents a modified Absence Request page.  Numerous Accessibility (508) issues have been reported. This document refers to four issues:

Note: all of the displays and functionality discussed are found on self service pages after clicking Time (employee self service) or Team Time (manager self service) and then clicking the Manage Absences tile.

  1. There are 'cards' on the top of the page, which display the three most recently requested events. When in Screen Reader or Accessibility mode, these cards should be removed and a View All Requests hyperlink will display at the bottom of the page.
  2. There is a +1 day button, used to request an event spanning several days.  This is confusing to accessible users; this button should be removed when in Screen Reader or Accessibility mode. Users will modify the end date accordingly.
  3. When the Apply Absence name button is selected, there is no message to the user announcing what occurred when the action was performed. Once applied, the screen reader should announce the next step.
  4. Error messages are not properly focused to their originating function button, field, etc.
