Student And Staff See The Committee Role Instead Of The Description Associated With The Role On The Advisor Pages (Doc ID 3002125.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 05, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Academic Advisement - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Student and Staff see the Role not the Description on The Advisor Pages.
For example, it's set up with Role of Academic Member of Committee for the Role with Description of Primary Advisory. A second Row has the The Role of Academic Committee with Description of Research Advisor.
When a Student views his advisors, the Role is not showing the Description, so The Academic Member of Committee is what they see, not Primary Advisor, etc.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Create you Committees on Set Up SACR -> Common Definitiions -> Committees -> Committee Type/Roles Or Campus Community -> Committee-> Committee Type/Roles
  2. Associate the Role to an Advisor -  Records and Enrollment ->Student Background Information -> Student Advisor -> Student Advisor
  3. Select Advised by Committee and select appropriate committee assignment.
  4. Log in as Student who is assigned the above advisor and Navigate to Academic Progress -> Advisors
  5. Note the Role displays not the Descriptions for the Committee/Role column
