E-IB: Getting "504 Gateway Timeout" Message on an Inbound or Outbound Service When the Integration "Flow" Exceeds a Non-Integration Broker Server's Timeout Value (Doc ID 3006884.1)

Symptoms

Site is testing an inbound (PeopleSoft provider) REST service in AWS. When the response payload is small, the response is received successfully by the web service client.
However, when the response payload is large, and the time it takes to return the data is more than 1 minute 15 seconds, the message below is seen in the web service client's response window.

 

Error:

504 Gateway Timeout

 

Steps to replicate:

1. Set up the PeopleSoft provider REST service in a similar environment.
2. Set up a web service client such as Postman or SoapUI or the third party.
3. Send in a request so that a sufficiently large amount of data is to be returned.
4. Observe the message above in the web service client's response window.
