Symptoms

Customer contacts in non-base languages is not saving when change Data Language.

The Customer Contact page doesn't work in the same way as the Customer page when saving name values in non-base language - if the Data Language field is changed to something other than "English" and the page saved, values are stored on the base table, not the language table - the same action on the Customer page causes updates on the language table.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

Note: In the Replication Steps, User Details / Company Names / Addresses / Emails / Telephone Numbers / Etc. are fictitious (based upon made-up data used in the Oracle DEMO Environments), any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental and not intended in any manner.
  1. Go to: My Preferences > Enable Multi-Lingual option. Enable Data Language field, in a multi lingual environment.
  2. Go to Customers > Customer Information > Create Customer Information. On Create Customer Information page, open Customer SHARE / 0000050039. Page Mode is “Correct History”, Data Language is “English”
  3. Change the Name1 field to “Master Services English” and save the page
  4. Go to Reporting Tools > Query > Query Manager. View the Name1 values on the Customer base table and Customer language table (PS_CUSTOMER and PS_CUSTOMER_LANG). PS_CUSTOMER_LANG - no data
  5. Change the Data Language to “French”. Change the Name1 field to “Master Services French” and save the page
  6. Go to Reporting Tools > Query > Query Manager. View the Name1 values on the Customer base table and Customer language table (PS_CUSTOMER and PS_CUSTOMER_LANG). PS_CUSTOMER_LANG updated

  8. Open Contact SHARE / 0039 – “Marcos Oliveria”. Page Mode is “Correct History”, Data Language is “English
  9. Change the Name field to “Marcos Oliveria English” and save the page
  10. Go to Reporting Tools > Query > Query Manager. View the Name values on the Contact base table and Contact language table (PS_CUST_CONTACT and PS_CUST_CNTCT_LANG). PS_CUST_CNTCT_LANG - no data
  11. Change the Data Language to “French”. Change the Name field to “Marcos Oliveria French” and save the page
