EPY: CAN: Garnishment Processing is Not Including the CP2 (Additional CPP) in DE Taxes (Doc ID 3037776.1)

Last updated on JULY 26, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Payroll for North America - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Garnishment deduction calculation is not including the the CP2 in the process for DE Taxes.

Correct Calculation:
Earnings: 3,217.04
Taxes = CIT 543.05 + CP2 128.87 = 671.92

Garnishment Calculation : 3,217.04 - 671.92 = 2545.12
  2545.12 * 20% = 509.02

But Actual Calculation:
Earnings: 3,217.04
Taxes = CIT 543.05

Garnishment Calculation : 3,217.04 - 543.05 = 2673.99
  2673.99 * 20% = 534.8

The CP2 (Additional CPP) amount should be included in the DE Taxes since it is employee paid.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:
1. Ensure the Canadian employee is enrolled into Garnishment on General Deduction Data - Payroll for North America>Employee Pay Data CAN>Deductions>Create General Deduction
