Symptoms

Deploying a PUM Image or a PeopleTools DPK Patch on Linux fails with the following error when running on the command line:

Installing PSFT Relocatable Puppet Software in the base directory: [FAILED]

Error as seen in psft_dpk_setup.log:

<DATE/TIME> psft_environment.py ERROR : PSFT Relocatable Puppet install failed due to the exception: TypeError - expected str, bytes or os.PathLike object, not NoneType
<DATE/TIME> psft_environment.py ERROR : PSFT Relocatable Puppet failed. Please see log for details.
<DATE/TIME> psft_environment.py DEBUG : Leaving setup_psft_reloc_puppet
<DATE/TIME> psftutils.py    DEBUG : Script execution ended at [<DATE/TIME>]
<DATE/TIME> psftutils.py    DEBUG : Script execution status [Setup failed.], time taken [<TIME>]

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Download the PUM Image or PeopleTools DPK files from My Oracle Support.
2. Extract the first zip file.
3. Run the dpk setup script to deploy the image or patch:
    sh psft-dpk-setup.sh <setup options>
