E-PRCS: Process Or Job Throws Error "Process 'Initiated' or 'Processing' but can not detect status of PID" or "Marked Initiated or Processing But No Longer Running" (Doc ID 616893.1)

Symptoms

A Process or PSJob run through the Process Scheduler throws one of the following errors:

"Process is marked 'Initiated' or 'Processing' but can not detect status of PID.
Updating process instance's status to Error."

"Process #### is marked Initiated or Processing but no longer running".

The affected item then ends in an Error runstatus.
