Symptoms

Customer wants certain user(s) to receive batch error notification emails generated by the PT_AMM_WF Application Engine program, and has done the setup by the Integration Broker PeopleBook, subsection "Prerequisites for Using Batch Error Notification" of the section "Running Batch Error Notification Processes", which can be found in the chapter named "Using the Service Operations Monitor" in 8.48+ PeopleBook editions, and "Using Integration Broker Monitor" in earlier (pre-8.48) PeopleBook editions.

That subsection says in the Integration Broker PeopleBook editions up to and including version 8.49:

Prerequisites for Using Batch Error Notification

To enable the workflow notification functionality, you need to have the following items in place within security definitions:
  • Grant access to the PT_AMM_DUMMY component interface. Navigate to PeopleTools, Security, Permissions & Roles, Permission Lists, Component Interfaces.
  • Assign users to the APP_MSG_ADMINISTRATOR role using PeopleTools, Security, Permissions & Roles, Roles, Members.
    PeopleSoft delivers the APP_MSG_ADMINISTRATOR role.
  • Add email addresses for users assigned to the APP_MSG_ADMINISTRATOR role to their user profiles so that they can receive the notification.
To complete this task, select PeopleTools, Security, User Profiles, User Profiles, Edit Email Addresses

Since version 8.50 of the Integration Broker PeopleBook edition it also adds to the above a fourth prerequisite as follows:

  • Grant users read-only access (at a minimum) to the service operation queue.

Note: That latest advise cannot be implemented as stated, because service operation queues (which in PeopleTools 8.48+ substituted the pre-8.48 message channels) have no security settings. This is a documentation error to be addressed in future releases.

Customer has configured the three first prerequisites, and still the User ID does not receive any notification emails on the new service operation (message) errors, though they do appear in the Service Operation Monitor (Message Monitor) and the PT_AMM_WF Application Engine program is run being afterwards.
