E-OAS: Your URL must contain domain ".domain.com"

Symptoms
PIA has been installed successfully on OAS. An Authtoken domain was specified during the installation. When the user tries to access the signon page with the fully qualified domain hostname in the URL as the one below:
http://<hostname>.<domain>.com:port/psp/<PIA_SITE>/?cmd=login&languageCd=ENG
the following error is thrown:

Your URL must contain domain ".domain.com"
Click Sign in to PeopleSoft to try again.
If the error persists, please contact your System Administrator for assistance.

Logon without authtoken domain works fine.
