Goal

We are planning to do an Gateway clustering in Active-Active mode and looking for some feedback in regard to the following implementation concern.

Currently 3-DNS hardware is used for fail-over situations.
The problem we face here is, when one gateway server goes down, the other gateway server has to be started manually so that our 3-dns will direct the requests to that gateway server. As it needs some manual intervention, we cannot achieve 100% up.

Our assumption for workaround is, let both the gateway servers be in Active-Active mode but our 3-dns should route the request to only one server at any point of time and keep polling that server for the gateway service availability.

Suppose if gateway server1 goes down, then 3-dns should automatically send the request to gateway server2, which is already active.By this way we can eliminate the manual intervention and ensure system is available throughout.

Request your advice on this implementation plan.
