System fields cannot be selected when creating a new Control record in a form applet (Doc ID 1905091.1)

Last updated on MAY 13, 2022

Applies to:

Siebel Tools - Version 8.1.1.11 [IP2013] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer Statement

It is not possible to add a system field to a form applet.

Environment

Siebel 8.1.1.11 on Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (32-bit)

Expected Behaviour

It should be possible to expose system fields in a form applet.

Actual Behaviour

When creating a new Control record and trying to pick a BC field into the Field column, the pick list does not include the system fields. Moreover, the pick list is bounded; thus it is also not possible to directly enter the system field name into the Field column.

Steps

By following these steps the issue can be reproduced:

  1. Open Tools.
  2. Create a new form applet, or choose an existing one.
  3. Create a new Control record.
  4. Try to pick a system field into the Field column.
  5. Try to type a system field name directly into the Field column.

Observe that both of the two steps 4 and 5 fail because the pick list is bounded and does not include any of the system fields.
