The New Window TAB in the IE11 Browser is not Closed when Opening an Attachment

Symptoms

On : 8.1.1.11 [23030] version, Client Functionality
The issue still exist in Siebel version 15.7. Starting with IP2016 the issue was solved (tested internally).

While attempting to open an attachment for a non read only record , in any attachment applet, the user observes a new tab created that is not automatically closed.
Issue is specific to Open UI and IE11.



Reproduction Steps:

In Open UI + IE11
1. Navigate to any attachment applet
2. Select an existing attachment on a NON - Read Only record
3. Observe the extra tab that is not closed. There are 3 discovered situations when this is happening:

 A. For  file types associated with Internet Explorer Browser to be opened by default:

 

 

 

 B. For .LOG  file type associated with a program ,other than Internet Explorer Browser, to be opened by default:

 

 

 

C. For unknown extension file types :
