How To Configure Java Web Container (Tomcat) To Use TLS 1.2 For Siebel Outbound Web Services That Uses OUTBOUNDSHA2 Named Subsystem (Doc ID 2321673.1)

Last updated on MARCH 06, 2023

Applies to:

Siebel CRM - Version 16.11 [IP2016] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

An outbound web service call is being made from Siebel application running on Linux OS.  The web service uses https and SHA2 encrypted certificates, which then uses the Siebel OUTBOUNDSHA2 Named Subsystem.  When using the OUTBOUNDSHA2 Named Subsystem, the final outbound call is handled and performed by the javacontainer to the external system.

In this usage scenario, there is a requirement by the external system to use TLS1.2 for the protocol.

Since the final outbound call to the external system is handled/performed by the javacontainer (Tomcat), is it supported to update the javacontainer1/bin/setenv.sh script to include TLSV1.2 using "export CATALINA_OPTS"?
