Can I Eliminate LDAP Need When Implementing Single Sign On (Doc ID 2499597.1)

Goal

Is there any way to eliminate the need of LDAP and use active directory (ADSI security adapter ) for SSO Siebel solution ? Our primary app server is in "Solaris or Redhat linux" keeping these platforms, without Windows servers in place, can we implement Active directly based SSO for Siebel?
