Outbound HTTPS call fails with java.security.cert.CertificateException: No name matching (Doc ID 2640196.1)

Symptoms

On : 19.12 version, Siebel EAI

When attempting to invoke an outbound web service using HTTPS
the following error occurs.

ERROR
-----------------------
SBL-EAI-04117: HTTP Request error during 'Submitting Data Send HTTP request': 'Status code - 500'

HTTP Status 500 ... Internal Server Error


Type Status Report

Message java.security.cert.CertificateException: No name matching found


Description The server encountered an unexpected condition that prevented it from fulfilling the request.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. execute custom process 'VF Generic Request Response Workflow'.
 

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot attempt to replicate other production issues (handled in a separate SR) in a test environment.
