After Applying Siebel Update 20.1, Editing a Workflow Process Using Siebel Tools Throws Error SBL-DBC-00108 and ORA-01036 (Doc ID 2642181.1)

Symptoms

After applying Siebel CRM Update 20.1, when using Siebel Tools to edit a workflow process, a constant SQL error message occurs.

Some of the errors disappear when one simple action is done, that is when the record is saved and Workflow is closed, the error goes way and user can open the workflow process again to edit it.

However, some other actions cannot be performed at all, making it impossible to edit an existing custom workflow process.

The following pop up error message show up while editing:


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1) Create a dummy workflow
2) Add a Start step and save

3) Add a Decision step and save

4) Rename the Decision step to 'Test' and save, error show up:
   
      An error has occurred preparing a SQL statement.
      Please continue or ask your system administrator to check your application configuration if the problem persists (SBL-DBC-00108)

5) Now close the Workflow
6) Edit again
7) Try to rename the Decision step the error persisted.
