Users Are Able To Open More Browser Tabs Than Parameter "Maximum Possible Tabbed Sessions" (Doc ID 2768765.1)

Symptoms


After enabling Multitab feature as per Document How To Enable Multi Tab Support (Doc ID 2580478.1) and set the parameter  "Maximum Possible Tabbed Sessions"  =  3 , the user is still able to open a 4th browser tab with Siebel Application. The expected Session Warning message indicating that the maximum number allowed was reached only show up on the 5th browser tab opened with Siebel Application.

The Multitab feature should allow the maximum number of tabs defined by parameter "Maximum Possible Tabbed Sessions". But if the user opens the browser tab and paste a Siebel URL copy from the tab to call the Siebel Application, it will allow one more tab then expected.

Typing the regular Siebel URL, that is https://<Application Interface Hostname:port>/siebel/app/<application>/<language>, on the new browser tab works fine and the user gets the warning when reaching "Maximum Possible Tabbed Sessions".

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Enable Muiltitab and set "Maximum Possible Tabbed Sessions"  =  3 on Siebel Management Console.

  2. Login in Siebel and navigate to Contact List Applet and drill down on a Contact.

  3. Copy the URL on the browser

  4. Close the browser and clean the cookies

  5. Open the browser again and paste the URL copy in 3.

  6. Siebel login page show up, enter the credential and user is redirect to the contact details view

  7. Open a new tab on the browser and paste the URL copy in 3.

  8. Siebel login page show up, enter the credential and user is redirect to the contact details view

  9. Open a new tab on the browser and paste the URL copy in 3.

  10. Siebel login page show up, enter the credential and user is redirect to the contact details view

  11. At this point there are 3 tabs with contact detail view, so not more tabs should be allower and user should get the Session Warning, but:

  12. Open a new tab on the browser and paste the URL copy in 3.

  13. NO Siebel login page show up and user is directly redirect to the contact details view

  14. So now we have 4 tabs which is not allowed.

  15. Open a new tab on the browser and paste the URL copy in 3.

  16. User finally get the Siebel Session Warning, but now with 4 tab opened.
