Silent Installation Fails With JAVA Error (java.lang.NullPointerException at com.oracle.siebel.apiinstaller.InstallerUtility.getInstalledComponents) (Doc ID 2849663.1)

Symptoms

When Siebel update for SES is executed with silent mode, Java console shows the error below.

As a result, installation cannot be run with silent mode.

 

There are multiple hosts that run Siebel Enterprise Server (SES). Therefore response file is created as below.

1) Using one Siebel Server, launch setup.bat under Disk1\install folder.
2) Set parameters as needed.
3) On Summary screen, click "Save Response File" to save a response file such as ses.rsp.
4) Click "Install" or "Cancel" as needed.
5) Copy ses.resp to other hosts that have Siebel Enterprise Server installation.
6) Run silent installation as below.
setup.bat -silent -responseFile ses.rsp.
7) Java console appears then the error message above is displayed.
