When Sending An Email With An Attachment That Has The File Name More Than 170 Characters The Error "SBL-DBC-00111: An error has occurred writing to a record" Occurs (Doc ID 2909242.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 01, 2023

Applies to:

Siebel CRM - Version 22.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When sending an email with F9 and adding an attachment with file name more than 170 characters the error message is triggered and the email is not sent.

This behavior occurs when sending an email from different entities (e.g. BC "Account Attachment" or "Agreement New Attachment"). In BC "Action Attachment" the field ActivityFileName is 200 characters long, also in the table S_ACTIVITY_ATT. When a file is added for Activity in BC "Action Attachment" then the user can modify the file name up to 200 characters and the file name is saved successfully. The bellow error appears in the object manager log  only if the user is creating email from attachment BC (e.g. "Account Attachment") with a long attachment name.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Connect in Siebel application;
  2. Execute F9 functionality from a generic view;
  3. Add an attachment with more than 170 character name length;
  4. Email is not sent.
