Error "No such file or directory" When Starting Siebel ESD Component Due To Incorrect JAVA JRE Path Configured By The EMS Installer (Doc ID 2963349.1)

Symptoms

After installing ESD 23.5, ESD 23.6 or ESD 23.7, when trying to start the service/daemon, it does not start and the error below is found in the catalina.out log:

/refresh/EMS23_7/ESD/bin/catalina.sh: line 504:/refresh/EMS23_7/ESD/bin/./../../jre/bin/java: No such file or directory


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1- Download Siebel Email Marketing Server 23.7 for LINUX from Oracle Support > Patches & Updates > Patch# 35569105

2- ESD will be installed under /refresh/EMS23_7/ESD for example

3- ESD will JRE from Siebel Installation. It can also be other JRE already installed or install JRE

In this case JAVA under under /refresh/siebel/ses/jre/1.8.0/bin will be used.

4- During the Installation, select JAVA under "/refresh/siebel/ses/jre/1.8.0/bin"

5- Once Installation is completed, start ESD:

[siebel@linux ESD]$ ./tomcat-ctl.sh


6- The below messages are generated:

Inside setenv.sh
Using JRE_HOME as /refresh/EMS23_5/ESD/bin/./../../jre
...
...

6- Note the JRE_HOME path - It is trying to locate JAVA from the <ESD Installation folder>/bin/jre that does not exist

Changes

 Install ESD 23.5, 23.6 or 23.7 to update previous ESD 23.1
