Selecting Static Pick List Field Value from UI when List Of Values (LOVs) are having same Display Value and Language Independent Code (LIC) with Different Languages Results in Error: SBL-DAT-00225 (Doc ID 2977994.1)

Symptoms

When trying to select LOV value from the field drop down list, for which there are 2 LOVs with same Value(Thai) and LIC (THA) for different languages (English-American & German), LOV value is not being saved on the field.

The error below is seen in the Application Object Manager log:

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Login to Siebel Tools
  2. Go to Pick List Object
  3. Create Picklist with below values
    • Name: ZEB Pref Language
    • Business Component: PickList Generic
    • Static: True
    • Type Field: Type
    • Type Value: ZEB_PREF_LANG
  4. Go to Contact Business Component
  5. Create New Field with below properties
    • Name: Preferred Language Name
    • Join: S_CONTACT_C
    • Column: ATTRIB_35
  6. Select 'Preferred Language Code' Field and provide 'Picklist' property value as 'ZEB Pref Language'
  7. Expand 'Preferred Language Code' Field and go to SVF Pickmap
  8. Create below records in SVF Pickmap
    • Record 1:
      • Field: Preferred Language Code
      • Picklist Field: Value
    • Record 2:
      • Field: Preferred Language Name
      • Picklist Field: Name
  9. Display 'Preferred Language Code' field in 'Contact List Applet'
  10. Deliver the changes to MAIN workspace
  11. Login to Siebel Application
  12. Go to sitemap--Administration-Application--List Of Values Explorer
  13. Create new record with below values
    • Type: ZEB_PREF_LANG
    • Translate: True
    • Multilingual: True
  14. Go to List Of Values, create below records and click on Clear Cache button
    • Record 1:
      • Type: ZEB_PREF_LANG
      • Display Value: Thai
      • Language - Independent Code: THA
      • Translate: True
      • Multilingual: True
      • Language: English-American
    • Record 2:
      • Type: ZEB_PREF_LANG
      • Display Value: Thai
      • Language - Independent Code: THA
      • Translate: True
      • Multilingual: True
      • Language: German
  15. Logoff and Login back into the Application
  16. Go to Contacts Screen--Contact List Applet
  17. Select existing contact/create new contact and try to pick the value from 'Preferred Language Code' field
