Purpose

The Siebel 7.8.2 pricing module is available in multiple licensing modes. Each mode is associated with either the Basic Pricing Procedure or the Dynamic Pricing Procedure. Below is the definition of both procedures:

Basic Pricing Procedure

  • Mimics basic pricer functionality available in Siebel 7.7

  • Includes list price, volume discounts and service pricing

  • Leverages the variable maps that do not contain the XA child variable maps

For more information on the Basic Pricing Procedure workflow process, refer to Siebel Bookshelf version 7.8 > Pricing Administration Guide > Siebel Pricer Technical Reference > Pricing Procedures and Workflow References > Basic Pricing Procedure Workflow.

Dynamic Pricing Procedure

  • Provides the complete pricing capabilities such as attribute pricing, promotions, and aggregate discounts

  • Leverages the variable maps that contain the XA child variable maps

  • Available only to customers with the Dynamic Pricer license

For more information on the Dynamic Pricing Procedure workflow process, refer to Siebel Bookshelf version 8.1 > Pricing Administration Guide > Siebel Pricer Technical Reference > Pricing Procedures and Workflow References > Dynamic Pricing Procedure Workflow.

The standard Siebel 7.8.2 application executes the basic pricing procedure. In order to leverage the dynamic pricing procedure, customers with the Dynamic Pricer license will need to make changes to several signal definitions as detailed in this technical note. Bug 10502604 has been logged as a documentation enhancement request, for these steps to be clearly documented in Siebel Bookshelf. Additionally, Bug 10506519 has been logged as a product enhancement request, requesting an easier way to enable dynamic pricing in a future release. It has been fixed with Siebel Version 8.1.1.

If you do not currently have the Dynamic Pricer license and are interested in purchasing it, please contact your Siebel Technical Account Manager or Siebel Sales Representative.
