Purpose
The purpose of this document is to obtain a memory dump of the process when it occurs.
On the Windows platforms, there are several tools available that can produce memory dumps of the crashing process.
Installing such a tool will provide critical debugging information that can be used to track down and discover faults and failures in the processes.
Scope
This document is informational and intended for any user. Certain privileges may be required in order to run and or install the 3rd party products described in this document.
Oracle Support currently recommends using Microsoft Debug Diagnostics (DebugDiag). This tool is the latest tool from Microsoft for producing memory dumps.
It is the easiest to install and configure, and it runs as a service. DebuDiag runs on all Windows platforms, unlike the older tools.
The only reason to run one of the older tools, would be at the explicit request of Oracle Support.
