Purpose
Siebel Scripting, using Siebel eScript or Siebel VB, provides a powerful and flexible way to customize your Siebel applications. However, adding scripting to Siebel applications increases the overall complexity of application maintenance and upgrades, thereby increasing the total cost of ownership. Poorly designed and implemented eScript or Siebel VB can directly and negatively impact the performance, scalability, and system stability of your Siebel application implementation. In an effort to maximize your return on investment, Siebel Systems has developed the attached Siebel Scripting Best Practices Resource Document, which includes guidelines to assist you in reducing the cost associated with script by:
- Providing instructions on how to minimize the amount of script written
- Describing where and how to write script that is easily maintained and easily upgraded
This technical note contains numerous best practices for ensuring that your use of scripting will be easily understood by multiple developers, maintained throughout upgrades, and will have the least impact on performance. Siebel Systems strongly recommends that all customers and partners who use scripting or are considering using scripting in their implementations review the Siebel Scripting Best Practices guidelines.
