Symptoms

It was reported that there were some issues with telephone data format stored in the Siebel database.

Phone Number entered in GUI      : +yy-xx-xxxx-xxxx
Phone Number stored in database: +yyxxxxxxxxxx-00-0000-0000.

It was found that there was a carriage return appended with the numbers, along with the zeros, e.g. +yyxxxxxxxxxx|-00-0000-0000

The problem was found when a customized button "Generate Distribution List" , which on clicking generates the 'marketing Distribution list' file in the server. This file contains the different fields, including "WORK_PHONE_NUM". When this file was generated the data was moved into the next record from the end of the work phone number as it contained a carriage return.

This was found to be happening with some other phone numbers as well:

GUI                            Database
+yy-(xx)xxxx-xxxx     +yyxxxxxxxxxx-(00)0000-0000
+yy xx xxxx-xxxx  +yyxxxxxxxxxx 00 0000-0000

This behavior also manifests when the data is exported by EIM.
