International Date Formatting and Querying (Doc ID 533677.1)

Last updated on JUNE 11, 2024

Applies to:

Siebel CRM - Version 7.5.3.1 SIA [16161] and later
z*OBSOLETE: Microsoft Windows 2000
Product Release: V7 (Enterprise)
Version: 7.5.3.1 [16161] Life Sci
Database: Oracle 9.2.0.2
Application Server OS: Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP 3
Database Server OS: HP-UX 11i

Symptoms

On the locale setting for Short Date Format, we are using "dd-mmm-yyyy" (i.e. international format, 30-Mar-2004).

This hinders us when we are trying to query on dates. I would expect to be able to enter "30-Mar-2004" and the system would know how to query,

I would also expect that I could use the calendar glyph to pick the date and the system would properly query on it. This is what is placed into the field upon using the calendar glyph:

           "02-Mar-2004 03:50:16 PM [(GMT+10:00) Brisbane]"

When querying using this, I get the following error message:

The only way that I can successfully query on the date is to use the European format (i.e. dd/mm/yyyy). This is most confusing for our American users.

What we really want is the ability to query using the International format (basically, what you see is what you query on).
