Oracle HSM (SAM-QFS): How To Reassociate Orphaned Inodes With Filenames in lost+found (Doc ID 1003417.1)

Last updated on MARCH 21, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 5.0 and later
All Platforms

Goal

When samfsck is run in repair mode (filesystem offline with a -F used) it may find inodes whose parent directory is either missing or invalid.  These are called "orphaned inodes" and are moved by samfsck to the lost+found directory of the filesystem.

This procedure outlined below will help identify where those files were originally located and their filenames, using the archiver.log for that filesystem.

NOTE: the location of the archiver.log is defined in the file /etc/opt/SUNWsamfs/archiver.cmd
