Goal

Description
Introduction to Correctable Error / Error Correct Code error messaging.

Modifications to Solaris[TM] Operating System(OS) and to Sun's hardware architectures, have been changing the ways that CE/ECC errors are reported and interpreted. This has caused service requests for replacement of memory or other hardware, that are not needed nor indicated by the messages.

This document provides a brief overview of the new messaging, along with tips on differentiating between messages that can be ignored versus those requiring corrective action.
