CDE logout fails with "TT_ERR_NO_MATCH" message (Doc ID 1007438.1)

Symptoms

CDE logout fails, and a modal, possibly truncated message pops up:

"The request to service this action has failed for the following reason: TT_ERR_NO_MATCH. There is no running program to handle this message, nor is there a static ptype to start such a program. Check whether the application needs to install ptypes using tt_type_comp(1). Use tttrace(1) for more information on the message which is causing the problem."

  or (pre-Solaris 8 version of the same message)

"The request to service this action has failed for the following reason: TT_ERR_NO_MATCH No handler could be found for this message, and the disposition was not queue or start."
