Solaris Volume Manager (SVM): Creating replica database via metadb command returns I/O error (Doc ID 1008210.1)

Symptoms

While creating a replica database using the metadb command, I/O error on a good known slice is observed:

 

But on the same slices, with smaller size, works fine:

# metadb -l 1024 -af c1t3d0s0 c1t3d0s1
# metadb
flags           first blk       block count
a        u         16              1024            /dev/dsk/c1t3d0s0
a        u         16              1024            /dev/dsk/c1t3d0s1
