Symptoms

During the boot the system was getting the error messages like the following:

  Nov 5 11:31:35 host1 sendmail[160]: My unqualified hostname (host1.) unknown; sleeping for re-try.
  Nov 5 11:32:35 host1 sendmail[160]: unanble to qualify my own domain name (host1.) -- using short name.
