Goal
It is often useful to be able to completely and permanently remove data from hard disks.
While the only certain way of doing this, is to destroy the disk, there are other alternatives that are very effective, and less costly. The intuitive ways of erasing a disk using rm -rf, newfs, or even reformatting, will not remove all the "bits" from the magnetic media.
