Solaris Cluster How To Fix Device Configuration Issues after Storage Change (Doc ID 1009192.1)

Last updated on MARCH 13, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster Geographic Edition - Version 3.1x to 4.3 [Release 3.1 to 4.3]
Solaris Cluster - Version 3.0 to 4.3 [Release 3.0 to 4.3]
Solaris Operating System - Version 11.4 to 11.4 [Release 11.0]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Goal

Making changes to the storage subsystem on Sun/Solaris Cluster 3.x or 4.x servers may cause inconsistencies between the operating system and the cluster framework. These inconsistencies may cause resource groups to fail to start, and services to become unavailable due to loss of device groups.

If there is a problem with individual disk please refer to
<Document 1020407.1> Solaris Cluster How to Fix Global DID Device Layer when DID got Renumbered after Disk Replacement

These commands will clean and update the /dev and /devices namespaces at the operating system level, clean and update the DID layer, and update the global devices namespace.
